Day one – St Jean Pied de Port to Orrison

Having arrived St-Jean on Thursday evening after a very good Journey I spent Friday exploring the small delightful town. Attended a service in the local church and received a pilgrims blessing, with other pilgrims from the priest. Hostel living is a new way of life !! Started the climb over the Pyrenees this morning. A beautiful glorious day with stunning views. Already met so many other pilgrims from all over the world. On my walk today I sat on a log under an oak tree and shared a birthday cake with Hans from Germany – it was his daughters birthday 🙂 I also met John from Lucca in Italy walking to Santiago with his dog!
